First Grave on the Right features Charlotte “Charley” Davidson who is a part-time private investigator and grim reaper. Charley has plenty of attitude and sarcasm but overall the affect works for her. At times it was borderline annoying but luckily the author knew when it was getting to be too much and reigned Charley in.
In this book, we are really introduced to Charley’s world and all the characters that surround her. We learn about her mystery lover and an old foe “The Big Bad” and what it means for Charley to be a grim reaper. There is a mystery within the book that must be solved concurrently with Charley pursuing her mystery lover identity that is all tied up by the end of the book. Overall, I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading Second Grave on the Left.
