Dagan is a soul reaper, duty bound by honor to gather souls on the behalf of his father Sutekh, who is an Egyptian god…... Roxy is an innocent when Dagan stumbles upon her while tracking a dark soul. Their chance encounter binds their two souls for eternity.
What I found interesting about this book is the different twist on mythology that is presented. There is just not one god pantheon, but every one you have ever heard of. They are all part of the Underworld and big surprise - they don’t get along with each other.
The main characters, Roxy and Dagan, are equally matched. Both are strong characters with with their own ideas and opinions. They often don’t agree with each other but not to the point where they are hostile to each other. Actually, their differences serve as the basis for the story upon which trust is begun to be built between the characters.
My only sticking point with the story was with the ending. It was very abrupt and left a huge cliffhanger. But the next book is out soon, so its not a long wait to find out what happens. The next book in the series is Sins of the Soul and I can’t wait to read it.
